Our Commitments: Acting for a Sustainable Future
At Socalait, we are aware of our environmental responsibility and we are committed to reducing our ecological footprint. To this end, we are implementing concrete initiatives to minimize our impact while guaranteeing quality products to our consumers.
1. Carbon Footprint Reduction and Responsible Sourcing
We favor short supply chains whenever possible, by sourcing locally, in Australia and New Zealand. This allows us to limit long-distance transport, reduce our carbon impact and support local businesses.
2. Towards Greener Energy
In 2025, we took a new step by installing photovoltaic panels on our two production sites. This initiative will enable us to significantly reduce our electricity consumption and commit to a transition towards cleaner and renewable energy.
3. Responsible Waste Management
We collaborate with Ecotrans, a specialist in recycling, in order to recover as many materials as possible and reduce pollution linked to industrial waste. Among the actions implemented:
✔ Recycling of freezers, neon lights, oils, chemicals and ferrous metals.
✔ Recovery of used batteries to prevent their dispersion in nature.
4. Encouraging the Circular Economy
We believe in the second life of materials! Our pallets, drums and plastic containers are recovered and reused by individuals and professionals, thus offering them an alternative and sustainable use.
5. Fighting Food Waste
We adopt a supportive and responsible approach to managing our unsold products. Rather than throwing them away, we have implemented two major actions:
✔ Redistribution of products approaching their Best Before Date (BBD) to local associations, in order to help people in precarious situations.
✔ Donations of our production losses to local farmers, thus contributing to reducing food waste while supporting livestock farming and agriculture in New Caledonia.
